Abstract

In the lecture, the challenges of Smart technologies era and vision of Embedded Systems (ES) as the basis of IoT infrastructure will be presented. Main topics are following: ES design techniques; Reuse technologies in design: ready software/hardware platforms for ES development; Modern approaches to ES design based on virtual and remote engineering; ES restrictions.

The features of ES development for biomedical applications will be discussed. As it is known, the growing need for telemedicine applications for diagnosis, prognosis and patients’ management is observed with the rise of infectious diseases such as the Covid 19 virus. Especially, it is important to develop tools for the increasing safety of healthcare staff in the event of epidemic infectious diseases. Another actual issue is the remote monitoring of patients discharged from hospitals or isolated in their homes during quarantine. Main topics are following: Biomedical application of embedded systems; Medical device design; Biomedical engineering around instrumentation; Sensors, actuators and control systems; ES for medical institutions; Demonstrations of students` projects on the realization of the biomedical devices.

Practical realization of biomedical systems based on different sensors and actuators, by using virtual development environment.

Skills you will aquire

Students will get acquainted with modern technologies of ES design and prototyping.

Students will be able to select necessary technologies and components for biomedical applications development.

Students will have hands-on experience of biomedical systems development based on virtual development environment usage.
