Overview
This course provides real world, hands-on learning of what goes into making a decision to start a company and develop and present a business model. It is based on the „24 steps to Entrepreneurship – Disciplined Entrepreneurship“ approach by Bill Aulet from MIT Sloan School of Management.
An experiential learning/ entrepreneurship course with shared student teams from different participating disciplines and with diverse international backgrounds. Students will work in teams to generate innovative ideas and transform them into business models. Experiential learning will be used in live customer discovery (by learning how to use the persona concept), prototyping and simple market validation. Project teams will be working together to develop a business model for their idea/assignment. An important element of the course is how to present a business idea in a short amount of time to an audience (pitch training).
Contribution to the online discussion of class material is expected of all participants. It is highly recommended to implement the following suggestions, to improve the overall effectiveness of class discussions:
- Prepare for class by reading/watching assigned materials prior to class.
- Enter discussions enthusiastically.
- Try to confine your comments to the topic.
- Listen alertly and jot down useful information.
- Provide constructive peer feedback and receive it appropriately.
Skills students will acquire
This course introduces students to business model development and Entrepreneurship and combines theory with substantial hands-on practice (presentation of the business model as a business pitch).

- Explain how business models are created as a simple framework with 4 basic elements as well as a business model canvas with 9 elements
- Discuss and analyse existing business models and implement feedback to further develop the business model.
- Present their own business model to an audience and explain the steps required to set up a business as a startup company.
