Abstract

Our world is changing rapidly. Industry 4.0 has created a real revolution, and changes have been felt throughout the industry. The competition today is great, and many are looking for the added, creative, and innovative value. A graduate of an academic institution today, will need to know how to deal with these changes, in order to adapt to the changing industry.

So how do you do that?

In the lecture we will talk about how people think, we will get to know the thinking biases that take place in our lives, and their connection to the world of product development (heuristics). We will see examples of innovative products, and we will try to analyze and understand what is innovative in them and why they were created? We will also try to understand why new products are coming to market all the time, and how we as product developers can make them have added value and innovation.

Skills you will aquire

  • Familiarity with human forms of thinking and thinking biases.
  • Get to know prominent innovative products in the market.
  • Be able to analyze the added value behind an innovative product.
  • Recognize the importance of creativity in the world of product development.

Biography

M. Avihai Shurin is an industrial designer, and graduated from the Department of Industrial Design of Holon Institute of Technology. He specializes in the designing and development of innovative products in the field of consumer goods. He also provides design and development services to private customers and companies, including consulting services, production support, and development of ideas and creative products, and lectures in various fields of design for a professional audience.
