What is the topic of the BioArt student contest?
Within the BioArt student contest hackaton students from Ukraine, Israel, Poland, Spain, Belgium and Austria will team up to develop a prototype of a medical wearable or implantable device.
How is the student contest organized?
Students from all partner countries will meet online and form teams of 6 students. These teams will, in a joint manner, solve their assignment bringing in their different expertise. Finally at the end of the student contest the solutions will be reviewed by a jury and awarded according to their creativity, innovation and solution.
When and where is the student contest?
The student contest will be fully online due to the COVID-19 situation between 30.8. and 3.9.2021. All necessary communication tools will be provided. You are advised to test them the days before the meeting to see if everything works for you.
What do I do at the Hackaton?
1. develop a first design of a medical product such as an implant or external prothesis.
2. create a lean functional prototype build from provided electronics, 3D printed parts and mechanical parts.
3. pitch on the last day to present your team's solution
What else do I learn at the workshop?
During the workshop you will also enjoy top mini lectures each 1 to 2 hours long to make you familiar with top technologies and skills for innovative makers. These skills will also help you to complete your mission!

Do I have to prepare something special upfront?
The student contest is organized in such a way that the know how you aquired during your studies is sufficient to solve the task in the team.
Only compulsory element you have to prepare is a presentation of 4 slides to describe your skills, and the work you have done previously to let your student colleagues get a first impression on you. The maximum duriation of the presentation must not exceed 4 minutes.
What are the costs of this summerschool and student contest?
The costs are covered by the Erasmus+ programme. You do not have to pay for the participation.
Do I need special equipment to bring with me?
Since the student contest is online you need a PC or laptop with camera and microphone to participate. Alternatively, we will also provide apps for mobile phones if you do not have a camera or microphone on your laptop or PC.
